Career Management Systems
Several systems have been developed to store and retrieve student career information so career educators can manage student pathways based on student responses to different modules and learning activities.
Students complete modules of self-reflection, research career options, and identify subjects and qualifications required to achieve their career goals. Parents are encouraged to share the career planning journey, and the different student management systems empower parents to continue these career conversations at home.
Existing student management systems such as Kamar and cloud-based programmes such as One Drive and Google can store careers information and Career Educators can develop tasks and templates for students to complete.
Career management systems such as Career Central, Dreamcatcher, MyMahi, and School Point have been developed specifically to assist Career Educators in schools.
They offer features such as: –
- Development of career management competencies through different student activities
- Sharing of student career information that inform Deans, pastoral and curriculum teachers
- Academic and career reporting options to identify and target students
- Individual and group counselling tasks
- Modules, lesson plans and unit standards that support the delivery of career education in schools.
