Year 9

Knowing self and your skills, and explore your options.

The focus for year 9 & 10 is developing self-awareness, where students can recognise their strengths, interests, and values. Students also need to recognise the skills they have gained from different activities and the skills they need to develop to be successful in further training or in the world of work.

The Year 9 career programme can be delivered in core classes such as Social Studies, English, and Health. Junior careers programmes are delivered either at the beginning of the year to support the transition into secondary education and/or at the later part of the year when the senior students have left. Goal setting and thinking about what they want to achieve from their secondary school education are other activities that can be included in the careers programme.

Mix and Match from the different resources below to design a Year 9 careers programme that meets the needs of your students.
